I’m delighted to welcome Martin Wells to the gardens to lead us in an inquiry retreat. Martin, who resides in England, will be facilitating this retreat on Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 10am to 2pm at the residence at Juniper Level Botanic Garden. Our monthly satsang gathering will follow the retreat from 2:30 – 4pm.
Martin’s Talk : Breakdown and Breakthrough – Nature’s Way
‘What was said to the rose that made it open was said to me here in my chest.’ Rumi
The natural world maintains a perfect balance. The constant state of flow of life restores and regenerates. Although we are sometimes prone to forget this we are, of course, part of this natural world. When we forget we often see breakdown as failure and ignore life’s capacity for rebalancing.
In the retreat we will have the opportunity to consider what happens when breakdown is welcomed and breakthrough allowed….Also what happens when ego breaks down allowing our true nature to be revealed.
The day will be a mixture of discussion, contemplation, meditation and silence. There will also be a silent walk through our botanic gardens.
Martin’s approach to non-dual understanding and practice involves teachings and contemplation designed to strip away the illusion of who we imagine ourselves to be, revealing our true nature. These teachings and the simple ongoing practice of mindful awareness inevitably lead to the realization of the source of our being. Martin teaches non-dual mindfulness to patients and staff in the NHS and practices and supervises psychotherapy from this perspective.
Martin is a teaching and supervising transactional analyst who has also been studying and practicing meditation for over 30 years. He works part-time in the NHS in the UK, as a consultant psychotherapist and teaches mindfulness from a non–dual perspective. He is the founder of TA ~ Spiritual and has led retreats in Scotland, Goa, and Spain.
The clarity of conscious being is never dulled but often obscured by the conditioned mind. There is nothing to be done. Simply to open to the clear flow of the stream with grace and gratitude. ~ Martin Wells
