The Seeking Self – Part 1 of 4

The separate or personal self that is seeking is the hinderance or roadblock to uncovering what is already present. It’s a simple case of mistaken identity.

There simply is no separate self or personal identity, only appearances of impersonal awareness appearing as what is. The personal self is an illusion. There are no separate selves, no separate objects, only a seamless, edgeless, uncaused and spontaneously appearing aware presence as everythingness in an edgeless and illusory appearance.  But why do I feel separate, you might ask…

We’ve noticed the intimacy and sense of an immediate and unique presence since we were small children, and we’ve been taught that this presence is personal and specific to us because this is what most believe to be true.

Small children are always in touch with the impersonal awareness they already are.

As older children and adults, we’ve simply forgotten what we are, and/or we’ve never explored our identity and only accepted what others have told us.

The concept of “I” as a separate or personal being with a name is a learned concept taught to babies and small children by well-meaning parents, family, teachers, neighbors and society.

Most humans follow the leader and embrace the beliefs and customs passed down from authority figures through the ages.

Those who question the deeper nature of identity, beingness, awareness and consciousness, are usually few and far between, and for those few, it’s often a catastrophic event that launches the deep inner journey to examine reality and self through self inquiry

Most understand the state of unconsciousness found in dreamless sleep, while under anesthesia, or in a coma, as the state of being unaware and unable to process sensory inputs from the body. There is no sense of a personal or separate self to be experienced in dreamless sleep, coma, or unconsciousness.

On the other hand, during periods of dreaming while sleeping, the brain/ mind is active and the sense of being a watcher or observer is experienced. Occasionally, lucid dreaming occurs when the sense of beingness as a dreamer senses that dreaming is occurring. Upon waking each morning, ordinary awareness arises and we take this awareness or consciousness to originate within and belong to a specific person, “me.”

Considering we spend at least one third of life unconscious, it appears this routine period of unconsciousness each 24 hours is critical to health and wellbeing. Scientists and physicians validate this need for deep restorative sleep. Is the source of the unconscious state during dreamless sleeping the same source that experiences dreaming sleep and the conscious state in waking hours? Where is the personal “I” in dreamless sleep?  How does the personal “I” arise when waking from sleep?

If you explore these questions deeply you will eventually discover the personal self is an illusion, a concept or complex set of beliefs reinforced by the widely-held beliefs and concepts of time and location. When the beliefs in the passage of time (past/future) is dissolved, the beliefs holding together the personal self eventually dissolve as well.

Beliefs are mental constructions, shadows on the wall, the stories created and claimed by the mind. There is only aware presence appearing, but the brain/mind must objectify all appearances.  Seeking arises spontaneously, to no one in particular, as fleeting appearances in the vast, empty, uncaused and spontaneous appearances of what simply is.

Awareness

The belief that creation unfolds at the feet of seven billion individuals, each with a personal awareness and consciousness, is the belief of the vast majority. I also believed this until 2011 when I witnessed the falling away of the personal identity I claimed as mine. I had been consumed for decades with spiritual introspection, and later self-inquiry, about the nature of existence, what happens after death, and the purpose of life.

I eventually realized, that the omnipresent awareness always seemed to be seeing from behind my eyes had never been personal or separate. I had mistakenly decided/believed/been told that I had a separate and personal awareness and I never questioned this belief since it was widely held by the vast majority of the world.

Jesus the Christ seemed to be pointing towards this mystery in the New Testament, but I did not have the ears to hear what he was pointing towards when he said he and the father are one.

There is only aware presence and it is indivisible. Whatever is seeming to appear in front of these eyes, and behind these eyes, is awareness as appearances. Awareness is the sum and substance of the appearance of creation or reality.

Yes, it may appear that seven billion individuals are here because we have all been taught to believe we are separate and exist in the concept of time and space. This is false.

Awareness appears as the momentary dreamscape called life. What’s looking through these eyes at this moment is this very same awareness observing and animating the energy of the momentary appearance of this human body as an ordinary person in a lovely dreamscape.

Today, from behind and in front of these eyes, it seems all human emotions and thoughts are still in play, and the dreamscape feels tangible….but this, what is, is simply fleeting appearances of aware presence.

There are no longer any beliefs and commentaries running about time, space, distance, becoming or improving. Nothing adds to or takes away from the raw seeing and perceiving of what simply is…what is appearing here, now, as this moment.

What Remains?

It’s “mind-blowing” to directly see the tricks and games the brain/mind plays to perpetuate itself as a separate and distinct entity where none exists.

Shockingly, there is no path to traverse…where would it lead? And for who? And for what?  This is…what is…an uncaused, spontaneously appearing impersonal consciousness playing and dreaming an illusory and relative dreamscape as itself. Paradoxically…seeking appeared and searching unfolded in the dreamscape of the anita character as she explored the longings in her heart for Truth, for what is.

There is nothing or no one to attain, to become, to achieve…these beliefs are illusory concepts of an illusory brain/mind struggling to claim and assert a separate self where none can possibly exist.

As the Anita character, what remains, if anything could remain, is the dreamscape appearing as life.  Anita no longer has internal reference points…just raw perceptions appearing as forms and formlessness across an uncaused and spontaneously appearing infinite ocean of impersonal consciousness.  The personality traits and preferences of the Anita character are mostly still in play, even heightened, and are now seen as impersonal consciousness playing as as its own dreamscape.

Emptiness is nowhere and everywhere and yet a profound intimacy and compassion embraces the character, the empty fullness, and unconditional love and compassion radiate as appearances. There is no ability to be inside nor outside of what is. No-thing-ness appears as the illusory every-thing-ness as a seamless, edgeless, undivided spontaneous and uncaused dreamscape.

Anita’s human emotions seem to appear, even super-heightened, as is apparent when she appears. Her quirky personality is projected as the illusory Anita character…no escape, no eternity, nothing remains. Remain and remaining are concepts of the split-mind that lives and plays in the imaginary land of time and space.

If you’re living in bliss and nirvana then by all means enjoy these states of the split-mind as they are simply a few of the thousands of expressions and states of mind in the split-mind’s bag of tricks…ultimately as projections of impersonal consciousness.  There has never, ever, been a personal or separate identity as a self, as the experiencer of these states. Nor has there been any distinct states of mind, only the labeling of phenomena and noumena by a misperceiving brain/mind believing itself to be a personal self.

Unfortunately, many seekers are caught up in the bliss and nirvana movement and are calling these exquisite feelings “enlightenment” or “realization.”  Of course, these appearances of “enlightened” folks are unfolding within impersonal consciousness too… but there is zero possibilities for realization or enlightenment for any individual — there are no individuals – only impersonal consciousness dreaming a dream as itself.

How does a separate person reach enlightenment or realization? It’s ridiculous to think an illusory self in an illusory world can become anything, much less become substantial, true, or otherwise solid…though many enjoy drinking the new age kool-aid, wearing robes, beads, and creating spiritual names while singing kumbayaa. And this too is appearing as the perfection of what simply is.

The few seeing the illusion of the illusion mostly laugh and cry, embracing the tenderness and ache of nothingness appearing as an empty everythingness as a dreamscape.  What can be added or taken from an illusion or a dream?

Stillness, aloneness, aliveness, and amazement…and a loving sorrow are felt textural expressions of impersonal consciousness, but these do not flow through substantive indiveric-frommidual humans. Emotions, sensory sensations, and the projected brain/mind also appear as impersonal consciousness creating the illusion of reality. There is no way out… what is is illusory, but isn’t it just amazing how real, and tangible what is appears to be?

The paradox of what is is overwhelming to pilgrims attempting to comprehend. No individual preferences. Who is there to prefer? What is preferring? Yet preferring spontaneously appears, to nothing or no one in particular as impersonal consciousness. The illusory character appears to have preferences but impersonal consciousness projects the illusion of all.

How else can an uncaused, edgeless, choiceless, centerless, spontaneously arising impersonal consciousness experience Itself as self and other unless it dreams 7 billion interesting characters in a dreamscape of separation?

What remains? What could possibly remain or not remain in an illusion? There is nothing to add, nor nothing to remove, how could there be? This is…what is...as edgeless, fullness, seamless, center-less, choice-less, uncaused emptiness… and yet it appears as embodied illusory beings through which impersonal consciousness dances as forms and formlessness.

Consciousness is Perceiving

What’s looking through the eyes claimed as yours? Have you ever questioned the nature of what’s looking, of what you are, of what is appearing?

Here’s the back of the book answer…what’s appearing is impersonal consciousness spontaneously projecting/flowing through the eyes you call yours, as the appearances of forms and formlessness in a dream of itself. It’s not really a flow, but it feels like a flow as long as the beliefs in time and space are still operable.

Perceptions and sensations are impersonal consciousness and it’s not divisible into parts or pieces anymore than you can carve out a slice of the sky. This is why there is no time and space, no inner or outer consciousness….consciousness cannot be divided.

Language, being relative and conceptual, lacks the scope to point towards what is as what is is non-conceptual, indivisible, and uncaused.  But what are we and how do we know?

We’ve been programmed since babyhood to believe we are separate…that we have a separate and unique consciousness, a personal consciousness within us – as us. Not true. What is appearing is consciousness…and it’s impersonal.  But when 99% of all humans believe something to be true, they call it a truth, a fact, a conviction…and it’s usually written in stone, until it’s not.  The world is flat, man can’t fly, we’ll never go to the moon, never a computer small enough to fit in your pocket.

Consciousness is indivisible, timeless, formless, limitless, infinite, spontaneously appearing and disappearing, uncaused.  There is no inside or outside to consciousness, nor is there a before or after…it’s edgeless, centerless, indivisible, and immeasurable.

Consciousness is not a person, thing, or thing, not a object or a subject… yet it includes and contains all things simultaneously as this unspeakable, unnameable unknowable singularity. What is…is a virtual reality of opposites/duality/separation and yes, of you and me.

The consciousness we perceive as ours and the external reality we seem to experience are actually one in the same ineffable, indivisible, impersonal consciousness. We mistakenly take this conscious to be personal to us since it feels as though consciousness originates or is located within the center of the body/mind. The brain/mind will argue otherwise, since the brain/mind’s main job is to claim a personal ownership of every appearance.

There is only impersonal consciousness, and it appears, if it appears at all, as shining and reflecting through infinite prisms or perceptual lenses as a dream of itself.  I find this fascinating and amazing.

Radical Love

Radical love, outrageous love, has no-boundaries, edges, corners, holes…it’s beyond description …it’s beyond comprehending by a relative, conditional, and objectifying human brain/mind.

Radical love sees no separation between evil and good, sorrow and joy, fear and courage, form and formless, pain and pleasure, birth and death. Love bows equally to everything imaginable and unimaginable, both horrific and holy.

Radical love is beyond measure, beyond anything quantifiable or knowable. Beyond beyond. Love cannot be contained in a mere word or language. It is so much bigger than big, huge, infinite, ineffable. Love is bigger and wider than Peace, Joy, Bliss, deeper than infinite, and more vacuous than void or infinite repeating oblivions.

Love is beyond illusory human comprehension yet closer and more intimate than the tiny hairs in our illusory noses. Only radical love seems to be appearing…uncaused, spontaneously flowing, reflecting, refracting, edgeless, seamless, limitless, nothingness appearing as everythingness, and not even that.

Pathless Path

Isn’t walking a spiritual path based on wanting, desiring, or a sense of incompleteness?

As a spiritual pilgrim, i desired to be near God and dwell in Heaven when i died.  i desired to be cleansed of my sins.  i wanted to be a good Christian woman, wife, and mother. Desire and passion fueled my search for answers for decades until the mechanism creating desire dwindled during the dark nights of the soul.

Seeking appears to arise as a personal self aims to receive something, earn a designation, obtain a guarantee, or uncover something perceived or believed to be missing or wanting. i assure you seeking of any kind is utterly useless, yet seeking appears to occur. Completeness, peacefulness, stillness is here now. It is the silent, ineffable and omnipresent consciousness that is animating your body and all appearances of creation.

The peaceful, silent, aliveness you already are is covered and shrouded in layers of untruth created by the brain/mind. Inquiring into the mechanics and workings of the mind is a pathless path to uncovering what is already appearing.

Right now, feel the body moving effortlessly — the eyes reading the screen, hands typing or writing, without claiming the movements as “yours.” Once the light of inquiry pierces the thin membrane of the brain/mind, the fierce grip of separateness slowly unwinds and releases sweet relief from a coiled body.

Feel the spaciousness you are when the mind is silent, no longer claiming bodily movements and activities with ownership.

Impersonal spaciousness and vastness is all there is. Allow unwinding, unspooling, and uncoiling to melt the false beliefs and concepts blinding you to the truth of what you already are.

Close your eyes and see what you are now, and what you are not. Are you limitless..are you personal?  Are you caused or uncaused?  Spontaneous or planned?  How do you know?  What knows?  What is knowing?  Are the knowing, the knower and the known separate?

Peace simply is ….beyond separateness, distinctions, and fears created by brain/mind.

Monkey Mind

Meditating often distracts from seeing what IS, unless there is awareness of what is meditating. And seeing what is meditating, desiring to feed the monkey mind with meditation slowly dissolves.

Nothing needs purifying…investigate what wants to purify the mind and then dissolve those beliefs and concepts. Even when observing a fairly quiet mind, as long as the belief in a personal mind and self is at play, it is still a game of reinforcing personal beliefs and concepts.

Give no focus to thoughts.  Be the stillness, emptiness, noticing what continually desires to separate, compare, and label thoughts.

Not Two

I devoured the paradoxical and powerful teachings of the Ashtavakra Gita and other Advaita teachings on the spiritual path.

Advaita (the Sanskrit word meaning “not-two”) are the scriptures within the ancient Vedanta teachings pointing towards a singular illusory omnipresent energy.  Meaning “not-two” and, as such, is the essence of all matter, all particles, visible, invisible, excluding nothing, and including all, even you, me, and God, Universe, Source.

What is is impersonal consciousness, uncaused and spontaneously appearing and disappearing as what we mistakenly perceive to be subjects and objects in a time and space filled universe.  What is appearing is indivisible, immeasurable, infinite consciousness, if there could be anything appearing, as this dreamscape we call life, reality, the universe.

I spent more time with this poetic yet disturbing scripture than any of the other ancient Eastern teachings. I read these scriptures each morning upon arising and again in the evening before going to sleep.  I even carried a copy of this Gita in my shoulder bag to read while waiting in line at auto mechanics or the grocery. For me, the Ashtavakra Gita was a gift of wordless words pointing towards the vastless void, dissolving false concepts of the personal self and split-mind like no other scriptures I’d ever read.

These scriptures directly and clearly challenge beliefs and concepts of a separate and personal self and a a separate and tangible reality or creation.  If you enjoy believing you are a personal self, a separate individual, stay away from these scriptures.

Sensating

Perceiving reality directly with the senses, without any commentary or judgment is consciousness being conscious of itself.  Humans have a multitude of organs and regulators operating within the body and a few are listed below. These rarely or little noticed gifts are continuously sensing and operating within our bodies…yet most fail to simply notice the importance of direct sensing to conssciousness and what is true. Raw sensations of the body will be closer to truth than any thoughts and beliefs about the sensations.

Are you able to add a few other perceiving and sensory mechanisms to this listing?

Sight
Sound
Touch
Smell
Taste
Balance
Temperature regulation
Gravity
Proximity
Breathing
Blood flow, heart rate
Digestion/elimination
Thirst, hunger
Intramuscular movement
Intuition
Navigation
Pressure
When you are out in nature, select one of the sensory organs or systems and gently notice the body without judgment.Notice awareness, notice what is aware….consciousness aware that it is aware.
Noticing the body’s sensory experiences moves our attention away from our thinking minds and into the actual physical experiences of the current sensations. This is healing for the bodymind and releases hormones that induces the relaxation response and reduces stress hormones and science clearly proves movements initiated within the body are claimed and owned by the brain a full 4-8 seconds after the neurons have fired into action!

Below is a mini-meditation and it’s easy to integrate into your day.
Simply select the sensory mode you wish to explore — let’s use the sense of touch as our example
so simply notice the feel and sensation of sweat dripping from your brow,
feel and sense the tender or vigorous pulsing of blood in your temples or chest,
feel and sense your muscles pull as you bend, move, and work in the gardens or flower/vegetable beds.
Feel the warm or cool moist air passing through your nostrils or your mouth as you inhale and exhale.
Feel your feet and shoes and sense the anchoring into the soil.
Notice how the earth supports your every movement.
Feel and sense your hands grip the shovel or rake, touching the soil, or touching a plant
Also notice how the body guides and shifts itself nearly effortlessly from one area of the garden or yard to another.
The body moves perfectly without the thinking mind…and the illusion of you is just along for the ride!
So relax and enjoy all the sensory experiences of the body and be kind to yourself when you believe you own or direct the body!Clearly you do not!

Subject-Object

Nonduality at Juniper Level Botanic Garden

Sensing and perceiving arise spontaneously…but not to a personal self…even though experientially it seems and feels close enough to be “within” the sensory experience.

Subject (creation) and object (creation) appear only when sensing and perceiving arise and the brain/mind applies labels, names, and concepts to what is appearing. The brain/mind habitually attempts to categorize and quantify what is appearing when no such conceptualizing is needed. Applying a remembered concept or the creation of a new concept is what keeps the brain mind busy making a separate world where no separation exists. But only in a separate world do edges and boundaries appear – even though they are only projections and overlays over that simply is.

There is only This. What you are is an impersonal mechanism for sensing. You believe yourself to be separate and distinct and this is false. You have never been separate and the movements of the body have never been initiated by you.

There is only this…here…now….as what is….impersonal consciousness seeming to appear in an illusory dream of separation we call reality or life.  And…there is no “within” and “without” unless you are playing in dreamscape, duality, the only place characters can play as self and other!

Scientific Mechanisms of Mind

Where is the mind? What is the mind?

In this age of swift advancements in brain imaging and research, we are uncovering a few of the mysterious functions of the brain, mind, and body. For deeper reading, an excellent research paper linked here provides the medical/scientific foundation as well as a philosophical and spiritual foundation.

The author of this excellent paper is Sunil Pandya, a neurosurgeon and thinker on medical ethics.  He summarizes the scientific aspects of the mysterious relationship between the mind and brain and how this mystery persists, even with each technological advancement.

In short, Dr. Pandya indicates there is “a clear connection between mental functions as we understand them (‘mind’) and the structure that produces it (brain).”  His paper goes on to report “the mind… is a virtual entity, one that reflects the workings of the neural networks, chemical and hormonal systems in our brain.”

Further, Dr. Pandya reports “The mind cannot be localised to particular areas within the brain, though the entire cerebral cortex and deep grey matter form important components. Consciousness, perception, behaviour, intelligence, language, motivation, drive, the urge to excel and reasoning of the most complex kind are the product of the extensive and complex linkages between the different parts of the brain.”

Neuropsychologist Dr. Rick Hanson along with neurologist Dr. Richard Mendius scientifically describe the illusory nature of a fixed, permanent, separate self in the book The Practical Neuroscience of Buddha’s Brain.  These behavioral and brain specialists compare the separate self to a unicorn, a truly fictional character, …as the brain strings together moments of selfing and subjectivity into an illusion of homogenous coherence and continuity.”

These “new” scientific findings are not new at all.  They are echoes of the ancient teachings of Wu Hsin, Jesus the Christ, Lao Tsu, the Upanishads, and the Buddha, as they pointed towards the illusory nature of mind and the personal self the mind projects.

Lenses of Perception

From what perspective, or what perceptual lenses, are you viewing life? Are you certain the reality you perceive is true? Do your perceptions distort your view of what is now simply appearing? How do you know what you are perceiving is real and true?

When enough people believe the same fundamental beliefs and concepts this sets up an alternate reality innocently believed, shared, and communicated. Ninety-nine percent of the world believes there is one consistent and enduring reality across all observers/viewers of reality and we are taught to believe that this is the reality our senses are to comprehend.  This is what our human brains are wired to do for our survival, to measure, judge, and separate reality into an inner realm and an outer realm based on the belief in an objective relativity.

And many wise medicine women and men have explored reality with the use of psychedelics (classical hallucinogens), dissociatives, deliriants, etc.  Read more here.

Does what you believe bend or shape your view of reality?  Does your perception of reality differ from anyone else you know?  The aware presence you are is infinite and timelessly open and accepting of every appearance of life. This infinite and expansive present awareness is also know as awareness or consciousness, but it is not localized into separate bodies each with their own personal thoughts and feelings.

We have been programmed since babyhood that we exist separately from consciousness, that we have a unique and personal consciousness within us – as us – and that we have private thoughts and feelings.

We mistakenly believe consciousness to be personal to us since it feels so intimate and close to us and we assume awareness and consciousness originate or is located within the individual center of the body/mind.

There is only consciousness, or aware presence and it is not personal, limited, or measureable. It cannot be located to a specific location. The brain will argue otherwise, since the brain’s main mission is to receive sensory inputs and to catalog them according to relativity….good and bad, up and down, here or there, me or you and to judge them based on opinions, feelings, and preferences.

I want nothing more than to share what I have seen with you. So below, are brief notes about the major perceptual lenses I noticed in the long process of self-inquiry, which is the timeless process of opening, exploring, and revealing the original nature of the self we claim as personal.

Please be aware, I have not included the thousands of other lenses reflecting the “beliefs” of what we are….gender, race, nationality, tribe, family, friends, cultural, geographical, political, historical, medical, artistic, social, spiritual…..and the list goes on and on…sorta like this sentence 🙂

Simple Lens Anita  – Duality

  • Perceiving/sensing to create an identity I call “me,” the little self.
  • Documenting, recalling, and sharing this personal life with others.
  • Separation between “me” and “other.”

Scientific Lens Anita – Duality

  • Perceiving life through the lenses of microscopes, telescopes, textbooks, history, and education to learn about myself and my place in the world.
  • Learning about God.
  • Learning to label, evaluate, measure, and judge all aspects of life in relation to time, space, location, and performance or outcomes.
  • Separation between “me” and “other.”  beliefs in time, space, volume, duration.

Maternal Lens Anita – Duality

  • Nurturing, providing, and guiding three children, and this personal self, towards society’s definition of motherhood, adulthood.
  • Learning about God’s love directly through the scriptures.
  • Separation between “me” and “other.”

Intellectual Lens Anita – Duality

  • Studying religion, spirituality, ancient wisdom texts, astrology, philosophy, and unitive dogma to uncover the meaning and purpose of life.
  • Learning the many facets and expressions of god/God around the world and through history.
  • Separation between “me” and “other.”

Unity Lens Anita – Duality

  • Discovering the quantum physics of connectedness of all creation — believing in a god/God of cosmic intelligence, of unconditional love.
  • Kundalini energy experiences.
  • Believing myself to be a small self of this unity/oneness of the universe. could not see the contradiction of dividing oneness.
  • Believing i had a separate personal awareness, soul, and ability to make choices.
  • Separation between “me” and “other.”    duality.

Empty Lens Anita – Duality

  • Deconstructing the personal beliefs and scientific concepts collected over the decades.
  • Understanding that “one” cannot be “parceled into many.”
  • God remaining undefinable, unexplainable, a mystery, vastness, nothingness, void, oblivion
  • Satori and kundalini energy experiences appearing to increase.
  • Losing the perceived distinctions and edges that were the sum of the reality I occupied as a separate being.
  • Personal self identity dissolving… questioning the belief of a personal self.

Nonduality – Beyond – – Beyond All Lenses…Yet With all Lenses

  • Seeing as direct knowing –this seeing is undoubtedly Grace and not possible by the intent or desire of the little self – the Anita character.  This direct knowing is beyond the comprehension of the brain/mind and beyond the mind’s concepts of space and time — What is…appears as indivisible, timeless, edgeless, vastness…projecting an illusory creation appearing as forms and not forms. impersonal consciousness seeing itself, and not seeing itself as vastness, formless, no-thing-ness dreaming a relative and dualistic appearing projection – a dreamscape.
  • Nothing lost and nothing gained.
  • Seeing the folly of believing the personal self was anita…
  • The self is the “instrument” of perceiving the illusory reality and it’s known directly, beyond the mind, that what is appearing is a spontaneous, momentary flash of energy (outside time and space so there is no duration at all) in a dream of separation to experience the concepts of “self” and “other.”
  • Infinite vastness, edgeless, formless, limitless, indivisible, immeasurable, spontaneous nothingness appearing as everythingness as the anita character. anita’s sensory mechanisms feel heightened beyond measure and super-sensitive.
  • Physical and emotional disruptions appear as the illusory physical body adjusts to increased energetic flow of electrical current.
  • Paradoxical…feeling, sensating what is clearly illusory.
  • Root chakra in constant union with crown chakra.
  • Unmoving and unshakable inner peace, silence, tranquility as the expressions of the character Anita seem to appear.
  • “Beyond” is known directly, beyond brain/mind. Beyond concepts like non-duality and transcendence.  Nothing has ever been real, nothing will ever be real…all appearances are illusory.

For me, it really helped to laugh often and never take myself seriously…
